Voice of America has named Natalia Mironova as its new Standards and Best Practices Editor. Mironova will serve as the network’s primary resource on journalistic standards related to news gathering and reporting. Her selection ends a nationwide search.
Mironova brings more than 25 years of experience in television and print journalism to VOA. Beginning in 2014, she was National Geographic’s Editorial Research and Standards Manager, overseeing broadcast and direct-to-consumer programming for factual accuracy, context, journalistic integrity, ethical standards, broadcast compliance standards, and cultural sensitivity. Prior to joining National Geographic, she held writing, editing, and producing positions at the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, NBC Universal, and CNN.
“VOA takes news standards very seriously,” said John Lippman, VOA Acting Director. “Natalia has a track record of journalistic integrity and of upholding high editorial standards. We are glad to have her serving in this critical role and we welcome her to the team.”
Mironova is a graduate of Columbia Union College and is fluent in both English and Russian.
