Liberian President and First Vice President of Sudan to Participate in ‘Straight Talk Africa’

President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf of Liberia will appear on the first half hour of Straight Talk Africa, Wednesday, November 7 via telephone from Monrovia. The President has just returned home from her brief trip to Washington to receive the Presidential Medal of Freedom Award from President Bush on 5 November. The President will discuss her efforts in moving Liberia to a post-conflict success story, and what she is doing to improve the lives of the people in her own country and across the continent.

For the second half hour, our guest will be His Excellency Salva Kiir Mayardit, First Vice President of Sudan and President of the Government of Southern Sudan. His Excellency Mr. Kiir will provide an overview of Sudan’s Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA), assessing how effective its implementation has been thus far.
